I’ve Been Invited Into Google Voice
A few days ago Google personally invited me to test out and use their brand new Google Voice service. I have been lucky enough to be one of the few people Google has invited to use this brand new service.
Google Voice is a brand new service that is currently in Beta and can only be used by people who have received an offical invite by Google.
So what is Google Voice and why is it so cool?
Basically, Google Voice allows you to choose one phone number that you can use for all your phones. When someone calls your spcecial Google phone number it can redirect that caller to any of your other phones lines... or all of them at once.
You can even create groups of people who will only ring certain phone numbers when they call.
For example: If you family calls your Google number you can have it ring all of your phones at once like your office, cell, and work phone. Or if your boss calls you can have the call sent straight to voicemail (that's awesome) and if your coworkers call you can have Google send the phone call to your office number only.
My two favorite features of Google Voice is the reverse call back technology and the ability to create an unlimited amount of personal voicemail messages for indivual callers.
Other Google Voice features include:
- One number for all your calls and SMS
- Call screening - Announce and screen callers
- Listen in - Listen before taking a call
- Block calls - Keep unwanted callers at bay
- SMS - Send, receive, and store SMS
- Place calls - Call US numbers for free
- Taking calls - Answer on any of your phones
- Phone routing - Phones ring based on who calls
- Forwarding phones - Add phones and decide which ring
- Voicemail as easy as email, with transcripts
- Voicemail transcripts - Read what your voicemail says
- Listen to voicemail - Check online or from your phone
- Notifications - Receive voicemails via email or SMS
- Personalize greeting - Vary greetings by caller
- Share voicemail - Forward or download voicemails
- Conference calling - Join people into a single call
- Call record - Record calls and store them online
- Call switch - Switch phones during a call
- Phone history - View your call and sms history online
- GOOG-411 - Check directory assistance
- Reverse call back - Allow your visitors to call you from your webpage.
- Flash audio player - Record a message over and the phone then publish your audio to the internet with Google's free flash audio player.
So far Google Voice has been working great and I have been giving my Google Phone number out to everyone. It's another amazing FREE tool from Google.
